poetic

I write songs where melody carries the feeling and the lyric meets it with weight. The kind of songwriting that once felt everyday, and now feels rare - not because it vanished, but because it was left behind.

Hello. I’m Dominic,
a singer, songwriter and recording artist rooted in the idea that songs should mean something. My work draws on the classic lineage of songwriting where melody carries emotion, lyrics carry weight, and structure takes you somewhere real. This isn’t background music. These are songs you lean into.

Dominic Crane is a UK-based singer-songwriter with a long-standing presence in the Birmingham music scene. He first emerged with The Boatyman before joining Rumblefish in the early nineties, later evolving into the art-pop project Low Art Thrill. During this period, the band secured deals with WEA and Island Records and received support from US college and BBC radio.
As a solo artist, Dominic has shared stages with artists including George Ezra, JP Cooper, Mike & The Mechanics, and Sharon Corr. A recording by Rumblefish also featured in the TV drama Hollyoaks.
He has worked in writing sessions with Amy Wadge, Stephen “Tin Tin” Duffy, and Motown legend Edwin Starr, and contributed melodic work to The Boatyman track 'Baby Blue' later recorded by P.P. Arnold for her album 'The New Adventures of P.P. Arnold', which she performed on Later… with Jools Holland.
In recent years, Dominic has focused on developing his own material from his Birmingham-based studio, now entering a new phase of releases beginning with 'So Moseley'.
